The short version
By default, this site uses only cookieless, anonymous analytics - no tracking cookies and no cross-site profiling. With your explicit consent, it can also enable Google Analytics 4, which does set cookies. It stays blocked until you click Accept, and you can change your mind at any time in Manage your cookie choices. You only share personal information if you choose to - by submitting the contact form or booking a call.
What this site collects by default
As you browse, the site records anonymous usage events - page views, clicks, the page you arrived from, your country (derived from network headers, not your IP address), and a coarse device type (mobile, tablet, or desktop, inferred from your screen size). A random per-session token lets the site count one visitor across a single visit; it is stored in your browser’s session storage and is erased the moment you close the tab.
This data is stored in a private database operated by Position5 (the developer of this site) and is used only to help Summer Dregs understand which work resonates. It is not shared, not sold, and contains no personally identifying information. The site stores no IP addresses and no browser user-agent strings. Because it is anonymous and cookieless, it needs no consent.
Marketing attribution
If you arrive from a campaign link, the site reads the UTM parameters in the URL (source, medium, campaign) and keeps them in your browser’s local storage so that, if you later submit the contact form, Summer Dregs can see which campaign brought you. This stays on your device and is not sent anywhere unless you submit the form.
Performance analytics
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to measure aggregate traffic and page-load performance. These are cookieless and anonymous - Vercel does not use them to build a cross-site profile of you. See Vercel’s privacy policy.
Optional analytics cookies (only with your consent)
Cookieless analytics can’t measure everything - for example, traffic sources and how visitors move through the site. So, only if you allow it, this site can enable Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google), which measures traffic sources and on-site behaviour.
It sets cookies in your browser and sends data about your visit to Google, which acts as an independent controller under its own policy and may process it outside the EU/UK, including in the United States. It is blocked by default: it loads only after you click Accept on the consent banner, and never if you decline or ignore it. Our legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time below.
Google’s policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
What gets sent if you submit the form
Your name, email, organization (if provided), project type, budget range, timeline, and the message you write are stored in the database and emailed to Summer Dregs, with a blind copy to Position5, who operates this site and helps coordinate projects. Email delivery is handled by Resend, an email service provider acting on our behalf. This information is used only to respond to your inquiry - it is never sold and is not shared beyond that.
Calendly
If you book a call, Calendly collects your name, email, and answers to any questions on their booking form. Calendly’s privacy policy applies to that interaction: calendly.com/privacy.
Data retention
Anonymous event data is retained for about 90 days and then deleted. Inquiry submissions and conversion records are kept as long as needed for the business relationship (typically up to 7 years for tax and contract purposes), then deleted. Analytics-cookie data, once GA4 is enabled, follows Google’s own retention terms.
Your rights
Under GDPR and CCPA, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you; withdraw your analytics-cookie consent at any time (above); or object to processing. Email summer@summerdregs.com with your request and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK and unhappy with our response, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
